POLICE Scotland has revealed the identity of the man who was shot after an attack in Glasgow's city centre.

Badreddin Abadlla Adam, 28, from Sudan, was shot by armed officers during Friday's incident on West George Street.

The identity is based on information the deceased provided to the Home Office earlier this year.

Police Scotland said they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack at the Park Inn Hotel, in which six people were stabbed, including a police officer.

They said the police discharge of firearms resulting in a fatality will also continue to be fully investigated by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).

They added that as the inquiries are ongoing, it "would not be appropriate to speculate either about the events or the outcomes of these investigations".
