Bake Off: The Professionals (C4, 8pm)

LIAM Charles and Tom Allen set two more challenges to the five remaining teams. Firstly, they must produce 24 perfect and identical layered vegetable cake slices and tomato shaped desserts in just three and a half hours. In the second stage, they must make baskets out of 160 choux buns, which are then filled with everything you might find at an allotment – but all made from sugar. Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden are on hand to assess the results and decide which teams go through to the next round.

Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads (BBC1, 9pm)

CREATING any drama during lockdown has been a challenge, but one beloved series from years gone by seems custom-made for 2020. With some of the best acting talent around today, including Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, Mum’s Lesley Manville, Military Wives’ Kristin Scott Thomas and Hobbit veteran Martin Freeman, now is the chance to see these minimalistic tales revamped for a new generation.

The Choir: Singing for Britain (BBC2, 9pm)

WHAT was once extraordinary, making TV shows via video-conference tech, has become the new normal, as the wave of dramas and news reports have illustrated over recent months. Given his skills at getting the best out of people, it was inevitable choir master Gareth Malone would help lift the spirits with a similar series of his own. In the first of a three-parter, he sets out to bring the nation together through music during the Covid-19 lockdown, by getting people from all walks of life to perform a specially composed song. Episode one focuses on frontline workers, all of whom have a particularly courageous story to tell.

Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild (C5, 9pm)

FOGLE is reunited with seafarer Rick, who has moved on to pastures new since their original encounter. When Rick last appeared on the series, he was living off the coast of French Polynesia, but he has since made a fresh start on the Pacific island of Fiji. In the intervening years, Rick has acquired a new boat and is now travelling alone – but remains as enthusiastic as ever about his lifestyle and believes anyone can follow in his wake and gain a newfound freedom – if they have the right attitude.
