THE BBC has been seen to be lagging in its coverage north of the Border again, as its “Coronavirus in Scotland” live blog spent all Sunday under the headline “UK Government set to amend two-metre rule”, despite any amendment made by Westminster having no relevance here.

The error was compounded when the live updates finished at 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Their summary of the day’s top stories led with: “UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirms the Government is poised to amend the two-metre social distancing rule, with a likely start date, in England at least, of July 4.”

The corporation has been in the spotlight recently after appointing a new director-general, Tim Davie, who previously stood as a Tory council candidate, and telling staff they can’t publicly back Black Lives Matter.
