A Loyalist group has staged a second protest on George Square in as many days.
The Loyalist Defence League announced the Sunday gathering yesterday after hundreds attended their Saturday event to "protect" the Glasgow Cenotaph from vandalism.
They invited supporters to the Sunday event on Twitter stating: "oppose the BLM and Antifa protest, let's protect our monuments".
Hundreds of people started to gather from 12pm with a heavy police presence once again visible.
Multiple riot vans and officers have been seen in the area, as well as a police helicopter which was seen flying over George Square and the city centre.
It is understood that the group clashed with protesters calling for the removal of a statue of Metropolitan Police founder Robert Peel.
Mounted police were also rushed in shortly later.

According to reports missiles could be seen flying between the two groups as police – with their batons drawn – formed a line across the street.
Chief Superintendent Alan Murray said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers were aware of a disturbance near George Square, Glasgow today.
“At this time the incident does not appear to be connected to a Black Lives Matter protest.”
Glasgow City Council webcam shots show a sizeable crowd has gathered at the event.

At the Sunday event, officers could be seen regulating traffic surrounding George Square.
