Springwatch 2020 (BBC2, 8pm)

THE new format of the annual wildlife series, in which the presenters are adhering to Covid-19 restrictions and broadcasting live from around the UK, seems to be working rather well. Tonight, Chris Packham, Iolo Williams and Gillian Burke kick off the third week of reporting on the wildlife dramas unfolding before the cameras. Countryfile presenter and ecologist Ellie Harrison joins the team from the Cotswolds, while award-winning wildlife cameraman Raymond Besant reveals his encounter with otters near his home on the Orkney Islands.

Bake Off: The Professionals (C4, 8pm)

LIAM Charles and Tom Allen set two chocolate-themed challenges for the four remaining teams in – and one of the tasks they will face has never been seen before on the show. For the climactic showpiece round, the teams are required to make a firework-themed creation, which must incorporate moving parts as well as featuring chocolate entremets. Judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finde will assess their efforts.

Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild (C5, 9pm)

THE host returns to the west coast of Australia to revisit Jim Alston and Kim Neung, who both suffered separate life-threatening injuries but found solace in the wild and with each other. Upon arrival on Wilderness Island this time, Ben is thrilled to discover Jim and Kim now have an extended family and that there is further cause for celebration. However, as Ben experiences the extremes of the Australian climate, he is also made aware of the logistical nightmares of living on a remote desert island.

The A Word (BBC1, 9pm)

REBECCA pays a visit to Joe’s school to teach the class about pregnancy, an experience which eases her worries about her own child’s future. However, while driving back to the Lakes, she goes into labour, and faces the prospect of giving birth by the roadside with only Joe to help. Ben returns from work in Derby with bad news for Alison. Ralph moves into his new flat with Katie, and Louise finds the experience of her son leaving home hard to take. Maurice proposes a drastic solution to her loneliness. Last in the series.
