SCOTLAND’S largest urban regeneration organisation, Clyde Gateway, is preparing for a massive boost of activity as construction restarts across Glasgow’s East End regeneration area.

The upsurge in housing and continued investment in business space and leisure facilities will see over £150 million of investment swing back into action, following the safe and phased return of the construction industry to sites.

Construction activity includes nearly 1000 new homes being built as Link Group and McTaggart Group restart the Dalmarnock Riverside development and Springfield Homes bring forward new properties at Dalmarnock station. More new homes are in the pipeline with the Swan Group’s recent plans for Newhall Street in Dalmarnock.

Clyde Gateway will continue to expand its roster of award-winning business space. It is pushing to complete two office pavilions at Rutherglen Links Business Park, which were 12 weeks from completion when lockdown began.

Work will restart on new headquarters for the Scottish Trades Union Congress at Bridgeton. The aim is to complete the project before the end of the year.

The speculative development of the Purifier Studios, on the site of the former gas works in Dalmarnock, will begin, with the unique Victorian building given a new lease of life as offices and workspaces.

Investment company Harris Finance, which has its headquarters in Clyde Gateway, will complete a bespoke new distribution and office facility for global logistics company DHL Express.

A Starbucks drive-through coffee shop and retail outlet Home Bargains will open at the Clyde Gateway Trading Outlet in Dalmarnock soon.

Executive director Martin McKay said: “Clyde Gateway has attracted more than £1 billion of investment and has put itself firmly on the map as ‘the place’ for people to live and work and where businesses can thrive.

“Kickstarting the investment in housing, business space and leisure facilities is welcome news, and with further exciting investment opportunities in the pipeline, development activity is set to top £200m in Clyde Gateway over the coming year.”
