ANOTHER 12 people have died in Scotland after being diagnosed with Covid-19, the First Minister has confirmed.

It means the total number of deaths under that measurement has now reached 2375.

Weekly National Records of Scotland figures which include deaths linked to coronavirus will be published tomorrow.

Speaking at the Scottish Government’s daily briefing, Nicola Sturgeon said: "Each one of these is an individual whose loss is being grieved and mourned by many – and I want again to send my condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one to this illness."

The FM announced that as of 9am this morning, there have been 15,471 positive cases confirmed, an increase of 53 from the figures published yesterday. That figure includes 40 older positive test results which have only been received today and are being added to the overall total now.

A total of 1168 patients are currently in hospital with either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 – an increase of 122. However, the number of confirmed cases in hospital decreased by 23.

Some 34 people last night were in intensive care with confirmed or suspected Covid-19, an increase of seven. All of those are suspected cases, not confirmed.
