PIERS Morgan has been applauded on Twitter today for calling out Dominic Cummings' continued refusal to apologise for breaking lockdown rules, stating that he effectively "destroyed" the UK lockdown.
The Good Morning Britain host is no stranger to voicing his opinions on the morning programme, and some have criticised him for commenting on "last week's news" as he returned after a week off.
But others have praised him for refusing to let the issue become "buried", as one user put it.
The scandal surrounding Cummings' lockdown travels from London to Durham and Barnard Castle has dominated UK news in recent weeks, with Boris Johnson and Cabinet members keen to "move on" from the situation.

In defiance, Morgan told viewers: "What Dominic Cummings has almost single-handedly done is he's destroyed the lockdown.
"By doing what he did, refusing to even apologise, refusing to admit that anything he did was wrong, even though none of us could do what he did at the time that he did it.
"By doing that, he's destroyed lockdown. He's destroyed trust in the government. Boris Johnson still stands by him, inexplicably."

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
