A GLASGOW man caught by police during a 270-mile trip home told officers he was unaware of lockdown rules, despite being furloughed.

Eden Police in Cumbria said the driver was travelling home from Hull after staying for 11 nights at his girlfriend’s parent’s house.

He was pulled over on the A66 at Appleby on Saturday but claimed he did not know travel restrictions had been put in place.

Police said they reported the man for breaking lockdown restrictions.
