THE official UK Civil Service twitter account has called Boris Johnson "arrogant and offensive".

The account tweeted: “Arrogant and offensive.

“Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?”

It tweeted the message about 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Downing Street press conference in which the Prime Minister said Boris Johnson "acted responsibly, legally and with integrity" by travelling 250 miles to visit his parents during lockdown.

The message has nearly 22,000 likes and more than 16,000 retweets.

The tweet was live for about 10 minutes before being deleted. 

The Government confirmed an investigation has been launched into who posted the “unauthorised tweet”.

Author JK Rowling responded: “When you find out who it was, let us know. I want to give them a year’s salary.”
