The National:

THROUGHOUT the coronavirus crisis, Nicola Sturgeon has been a cut above the leadership at Westminster.

Mind you, it wouldn’t be hard to outshine that lot.

Nevertheless, the First Minister’s clarity, authority and compassion have shone through as Tory ministers have been shown to be evasive, muddled and untrustworthy.

The Conservatives’ outstanding qualities are highlighted every Sunday morning on the BBC’s Andrew Marr show, when Cabinet members take it in turns not to answer questions.

This week it was evader-in-chief Michael Gove.

His performance was so impressive that Kay Burley encouraged Westminster politicians to look to Scotland’s First Minister for inspiration.

She tweeted: "I yearn for the day when a politician might answer a straight question with a straight answer. Perhaps Westminster politicians could take a lead [sic] out of @NicolaSturgeon playbook."

The comment may come as a surprise to many considering that just last week Burley interrupted Sturgeon to shout a question at Matt Hancock, but the Sky presenter clearly admires the FM.

It seems hard to believe that Burley would praise Sturgeon, but in these unprecedented times you can’t rule anything out.

Having said that, the Jouker isn’t expecting a Tory minister to give a straight answer any time soon.
