THE Scotland Office makes sure to stay in tow with Downing Street at every turn.
This is most evident when it comes to incompetence and contempt for Scotland.
Both are on show in the Scotland Office’s latest mishap.
The official UK Gov Scotland account has been caught liking a tweet which suggests Scotland will go “cap in hand” to Westminster if the economy crashes.
The tweet was removed from the page after it had been flagged up on social media.
Posted by Twitter user Matt Williams, it reads: “Welsh and Scottish 'governments' must be wetting themselves. Held up as heroes for continuing 'lockdown' knowing that when the inevitable economic collapse comes they can go cap in hand and ask Westminster to sort it.”

The like was quickly picked up on by independence supporters.
“Interesting tweet for the zombie Scotland Office to be promoting,” wrote one Twitter user.
“This is what taxpayers get back from the nigh £1 million UK gov (publicly funded) bill for Tory spin doctors in Scotland.”
Former SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson posted: “Remarkable to see what the OFFICIAL UK Government Twitter account in Scotland is promoting.
“Having departed from the four-nation approach to coronavirus they’re now ‘liking’ message trolling Scottish and Welsh governments. Still there to see at @UKGovScotland.”

A UK Government spokesperson said: "This was an obvious error and has been ‘liked’ by accident at an exceptionally busy time.
"The ‘like’ has since been removed."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
