A FURTHER 34 people have died in Scotland after testing positive for Covid-19, Nicola Sturgeon said at her daily briefing.

A total of 2007 patients have died, according to the Health Protection Scotland figures.

The First Minister said 14,117 people have tested positive for the virus in Scotland, up by 188 from 13,929.

There are 71 people in intensive care with coronavirus or coronavirus symptoms, an increase of one on Wednesday, she added.

There are 1480 people in hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19, a decrease of 54.

Since March 5, 3253 people who have tested positive for coronavirus have been able to leave hospital.

The latest figures from National Records of Scotland revealed that as at May 10, 3213 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Sturgeon said: "Let’s always remind ourselves that behind these statistics are individuals whose loss is a source of grief to their friends, family and loved ones.

"I want to send my deepest condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one to this virus."
