The iconic musician passed away today, his son told Rolling Stone
RICHARD Wayne Penniman, aka Little Richard, has died at the age of 87, it has been announced by Rolling Stone.
The rock and roll originator, born in Macon, Georgia, was known for his flamboyant performing style and influenced musicians around the world.
The singer/songwriter made his name in the 1950s with hits like Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally.
The musician’s son, Danny Penniman, confirmed the legend’s death to Rolling Stone magazine, but the cause of death has not been reported.
During his career Little Richard became one of the first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and performed at Bill Clinton’s presidential inauguration back in 1992.
