Britain’s Got Talent (STV, 8pm)
SIMON Cowell’s juggernaut is back, but not quite how we know it. The series has been split in two, with the opening part concentrating on the audition rounds, which were filmed some time ago.
We’re then promised that the live finals which can’t currently take place due to social distancing will be broadcast later in the year. The judges are Cowell, actress Amanda Holden, singer Alesha Dixon and comedian David Walliams.
Easter from King’s (BBC2, 7pm)
IT’S Easter week, and as chaos reigns, it’s rather nice to see something familiar and comforting drop into the TV schedules.
For decades, we’ve been treated to an annual performance by the world-famous choir at the glorious Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge, and despite the fact that it has cancelled its live performances this year, we’re still being treated to music and prayer from the venue. Here, Daniel Hyde conducts as the choir
sing such seasonal favourites as O Vos Omnes, Were You There?, And I Saw a New Heaven and Blessed be the God and the Father.
Plus, members of King’s College tell the story of Christ’s death and resurrection via passages from the Bible and poems by Patrick Carey and Malcolm Guite.
Twin (BBC Four, 9pm & 9.45pm)
THE compelling Norwegian thriller continues with another double-bill. Cracks begin to appear in Ingrid’s plan as she tries to keep Erik hidden in the basement.
And when Alfred needs help to retrieve his wrecked boat, Erik is forced to play the role of Adam.
Meanwhile, Karin travels to Unstad to find out who her father’s deceased twin brother really was.
Then, the second episode tonight, Erik returns to Unstad in an attempt to say goodbye to his old life. But when Karin almost drowns, he reacts completely differently than Adam would have and puts his subterfuge at risk.
Karin gets very confused, so confused that she gets drunk and starts spilling to the police that she thinks her family is lying about the accident.
All Round to Mrs Brown’s (BBC1, 9.15pm)
MRS Brown’s Boys creator, writer and star Brendan O’Carroll dons Agnes’s famous cardigan and curly wig once again as he throws open the doors of the larger-than-life Irish matriarch’s home to host the Saturday night chat show.
In the fourth episode of the show, Agnes and the family are joined on the show by former football manager and I’m A Celebrity winner Harry Redknapp, Radio 1 presenter Maya Jama, and singer Mick Hucknall, who also performs live later in the programme with Simply Red.
Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. It’s no exaggeration to say that the future of The National is at stake. Please consider supporting us through this with a digital subscription from just £2 for 2 months by following this link: http://www.thenational.scot/subscribe. Thanks – and stay safe.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
