A SCOTTISH school pupil has shown off his drawings after landing eight offers at top art schools in the UK, US and Canada.

Muna Nweke, a pupil at Strathallan School in Perthshire, will now consider offers from the Rhode Island School of Art and the Ringling College of Art and Design among other institutions.

He said: “These are some of the best art schools in the world and I never thought I’d be able to say that I have been offered these opportunities.”

Nweke, who first started drawing when he was 5 years old, arrived at Strathallan in 2014. The 17-year-old’s art is heavily inspired by political events, such as Brexit. “I’ve always enjoyed putting my own creative style on real events,” he said.

“Especially since the 2016 USA election, I’ve been following Donald Trump and the impeachment process, the war of words and ideas has been a strong source of inspiration for my art so far.”

Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. It’s no exaggeration to say that the future of The National is at stake.
