BERNIE Sanders is dropping out of the presidential race, leaving former Vice President Joe Biden as the Democrat rival to Donald Trump. 

Sanders had failed to connect with voters in the primaries, losing in crucial states like Michigan and Florida.

The coronavirus crisis has left the veteran candidate unable to hold events in the last few weeks.

He had been under pressure from fellow Democrats to quit and help unite the party behind Biden.
