THE Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is self-isolating after a family member showed symptoms of the coronavirus. 

Michael Gove will follow NHS guidance and self-isolate for 14 days.

The BBC's Lewis Goodall commented: "Though he will doubtless be working digitally, in lieu of the prime minister the Cabinet Office becomes all the more important.

"Gove is a central player in coordination - this will make things that bit harder."

A number of Cabinet members have had to self-isolate during the coronavirus crisis so far. 

Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Scottish Secretary Alister Jack both self-isolated after showing symptoms. 

And Boris Johnson was taken to hospital on Sunday after his symptoms continued for 10 days. He is currently in intensive care.

His chief adviser Dominic Cummings is also self-isolating after developing symptoms of the vrus.
