THE editor-in-chief of medical journal The Lancet has pointed out the “hypocrisy” of Conservatives clapping NHS staff for their efforts in tackling coronavirus.
Appearing on BBC’s Question Time, Richard Horton slammed Tory Cabinet minister Robert Jenrick for the Conservative party’s response to the spread of Covid-19.
He said: “The hypocrisy of clapping NHS workers and yet the Government not supporting them to go into that frontline is tragic and it was preventable.”

It was an uncomfortable evening for Jenrick, who struggled to defend the UK Government response, or lack thereof, to the spread of coronavirus.
