THERE are now 322 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed.

The First Minister, addressing the nation at her daily briefing, said there have been no further deaths.

The increase in cases marks a rise of 56 since yesterday.

Sturgeon has urged anyone who left the medical profession in the past three years to consider returning to help the fight against coronavirus.

Sharing a plea from Scotland's chief nursing officer Fiona McQueen, the First Minister tweeted: "Scotland's NHS needs our help to meet the #coronavirus challenge."

It comes as schools across Scotland closed down to help deal with the spread of the disease.
