A SCOTS sheriff has adjourned the case of St Andrews academic Clara Ponsati for three months to await a ruling on her immunity as a MEP from European authorities.

The former Catalan education minister was sought by Spain under a European arrest warrant for her part in the October 2017 independence referendum there.

Her case was called again this morning, but Sheriff Nigel Ross deferred it until June 18 for the European Parliament to decide if she has immunity from prosecution.
