Secrets of the Museum (BBC2, 8pm)

AS a celebration of art, design and performance, London’s V&A Museum is home to an eclectic collection of treasures, from Queen Victoria’s coronet to Kylie’s Minogue’s 2007 tour wardrobe. This new series meets the staff involved in the painstaking, highly specialised jobs of conserving, cleaning, acquiring and

displaying some of the museum’s amazing objects. In the first episode, work begins on restoring Pumpie the 100-year-old toy elephant which has suffered major moth damage, while curator Charlotte is trying to identify the 18th-century aristocrat immortalised on an ornate snuffbox. Meanwhile, Lillia and Lara get to work creating bespoke mannequins for a Christian Dior exhibition.

Best Home Cook (BBC1, 8pm)

MICHELIN-starred chef Tom Kerridge takes Angela Hartnett’s role in the judging line-up for one week as the six remaining home cooks compete in the quarter-final. First up, Mary Berry gives the competitors two hours and 15 minutes to cook their ultimate family pie, which must be fully encased and the pastry made from scratch. Next, Chris Bavin asks them to rustle up a dish that takes a humble root vegetable that’s usually an accompaniment and places it centre stage. This week’s eliminator is a recipe that’s close to Tom’s heart, so he expects it to be executed perfectly.

Death in Paradise (BBC1, 9pm)

THE celebratory launch of a new luxury resort is cut short when a woman is found electrocuted in her hotel bathtub – with the door locked from the inside. It looks like a simple case of suicide, but with Jack Mooney no longer around to confirm Commissioner Selwyn’s suspicions, DI Neville Parker is temporarily flown over from Manchester to close the case. However, he soon realises that island life is not for him, so when evidence of suspicious activity turns up, he is dismayed to realise he will have to extend his stay and investigate the case as murder. Ralf Little joins the cast, with guest appearance by Steve Pemberton.
