STIRLING politicians Bruce Crawford and Alyn Smith have criticised the Tory Government for “over-promising and under-delivering” after it was confirmed today the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal will be short-changed by £5 million.

While the SNP Government has injected a total of £1.8 billion into Scotland’s city region deals, the Tories have come up short – fleecing Scotland to the tune of £407m.

The SNP has challenged the UK Government to match future funding.

Crawford, SNP MSP for Stirling, said: “The Tories might talk a good game, but once again they have been caught out overpromising and under-delivering for Scotland.”

“It’s an outrage that while the Tories found a spare £1 billion down the back of the sofa to buy votes from the DUP in the last parliament, they’ve ripped off Scotland to the tune of £407 million over the same period.

SNP MP for Stirling Alyn Smith (above) added: “The economic prosperity and jobs of everyday Scots is on the line here. It’s time for the UK Government to give us a straight answer.

“Will Boris Johnson put his money where his mouth is and cough up Scotland’s missing millions, or have the Tories simply given up on the people of Scotland and abandoned their promises to match investment?”
