Lochaber Mountain Rescue have made an appeal for information after a man went missing on Ben Nevis on Thursday morning.

A total of 39 mountain rescuers from various teams have been involved in the search for Tomas Gafrik who was last heard from on Thursday, after posting an image roughly halfway up Scotland's tallest mountain.

Conditions on the mountain have been especially tough following the storms which have battered Scotland over the past week, with lows of -7°C and wind chill as cold as -20°C near the summit, according to Mountain Forecast.

Gafrik was visiting the area to explore the "fjords" and rescue teams were unsure whether he had managed to get off the mountain safely.

Anyone with information is advised to contact the police.
