WORK inspired by a community-built Scottish tapestry is to be shown this spring to mark the 10th anniversary of its completion.
The Mount Felix Tapestry will be brought to Scotland to help mark a decade passing since the Prestonpans Tapestry, which tells the story of the famous 1745 battle, was unveiled.
The new tapestry, which Emily Boulting decided to create after seeing the Prestonpans piece during its tour, tells the First World War tale of Mount Felix Hospital in Surrey. The hospital served wounded New Zealand soldiers returning from Gallipoli and the Western Front.
Completed in 2017, it was – like the Scottish work – completed by hundreds of volunteers.
Ereti Mitchell, the president of New Zealand Society Scotland, and New Zealand Honorary Consul for Scotland, Sir Neil McIntosh CBE, said they were “delighted” the cloth is being brought to Scotland.
The Mount Felix Tapestry will be shown at the Prestoungrange Gothenburg, Prestonpans, from February 26 to March 11.
