The BRIT Awards 2020 (STV, 8pm)

AS last week’s documentary The BRITs at 40 reminded us, one of the things that makes this event stand out from all the other awards ceremonies is its air of unpredictability. So, Jack Whitehall is hopefully prepared for anything as he hosts for the third time. Performers include Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi – who has topped off a great year by being nominated for four BRITs: Best Male, Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Album of the Year – plus fellow nominees Harry Styles, Mabel, Stormzy and Billie Eilish.

Royal History’s Biggest Fibs with Lucy Worsley (BBC Four, 9pm)

IN the first of a new three-part series, Lucy discovers how the history of the Reformation has been manipulated by generations of politicians and writers. Henry VIII’s divorce from Catherine of Aragon created a religious and political schism between England and Europe that can be still be felt today. Lucy begins by demolishing one of the founding myths about the Reformation: far from being a ready ally of Martin Luther’s Protestant revolution, Henry remained a Catholic to his death.

Universal Credit: Inside the Welfare State (BBC2, 9pm)

THE final episode of the series comes from Bolton, a city with unusually high levels of unemployment for people aged between 18 and 25. Waitress Jenny works on a zero-hours contract and, since Universal Credit is paid a month in arrears, she finds it very difficult to predict how much money she will have to live off at any given time. New claimant Paula is given an advance payment to ease her through the five-week transition period, but finds herself struggling to pay it back and live on her monthly payments.

My New Greek Life (C5, 10pm)

CHARTERED surveyors Alex and Charley open a hotel in Corfu. However, Alex still has to return to London for work regularly, leaving Charley, who has no experience of the business, alone on an island where she does not speak the language and has no friends or family. On Crete, Kate is thinking about whether to pursue a romance with a local shepherd, and tensions rise for a family stuck on their yacht for the last nine hours – especially when a medical emergency occurs.
