FOLLOWING the closure of the Queensferry Crossing, many people took to Twitter to criticise the Scottish Government.

The bridge closure resulted in a lot of traffic having to be redirected which caused frustration, but many tweeters went straight to blaming the SNP for "bridge that would never close" closing.

LibDem MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton was one of those to jump on the bandwagon, immediately receiving backlash from people, criticising him worrying more about at cheap dig at the SNP than for the safety of his constituents.

When the bridge was initially designed, the claim that it would never close due to high winds was made. To this day it stands correct. The reason the bridge closed today, is due to an unexpected problem with ice.

One Twitter user, however, was quick to remind people that the Queensferry Crossing wasn't the only bridge to close in the battering of Storm Ciara.

Alan Ferrier listed the other bridges that closed during the storm.

His list goes to show the extent of the storm, as well as the severity – with major bridges across the UK and beyond requiring closure due to the weather.
