WATCH: Michael Russell's powerful conclusion in the Holyrood indyref2 debate
THE Scottish Parliament last night voted in favour of holding a second independence referendum, with the motion gaining support from both the SNP and Scottish Green Party.
Concluding the debate, Cabinet Secretary for Government Business and Constitutional Relations Michael Russell railed against those who felt they could stand in the way of the will of the Scottish people.
In the final moments of his speech, he stated: "If this parliament votes for a referendum, it will have it".
The vote passed, and on Thursday a new YouGov poll revealed a majority of Scots were now in support of independence.
