SCOTTISH LibDem leader Willie Rennie was met with an outburst of laughter in the Scottish Parliament chambers after claiming he is "not obsessed about independence".

Rennie made the comment while discussing a second referendum, claiming Nicola Sturgeon "does not have a mandate for independence" in Scotland.

But the First Minister hit back, inviting him to "tell us what, in his view, would constitute a mandate for an independence referendum – and we might make some process".

Rennie then began to respond – before being met with roars of laughter from SNP MSPs over his chosen statement.
