YELLOW weather warnings are in place for most of Scotland today with the Met Office warning of snow and icy conditions.

The warning issued yesterday afternoon said that with showers turning increasingly wintry overnight and continuing into today, icy patches are expected to cause some disruption.

The warning continued to say that some roads and railways would be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services, and that there was the likelihood of some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. Icy areas may be found on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The warning covers central Scotland, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, south-west Scotland, the Lothians, the Borders and Strathclyde In addition, Yorkshire and Humber North East England and north-west England are set to be affected, the Met Office reported.
