CANADIAN Celtic supergroup Còig have announced a series of live dates across the UK this February, taking place in Perth, Glasgow, Banchory, Inverness and Peebles.

The tour will follow up their hugely successful series of gigs in the UK last spring when the quartet stunned crowds across the country with their non-traditional and exciting style of traditional music.

Comprising Darren McMullen (guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, bouzouki, whistles, flute, vocals), Rachel Davis (fiddle, viola, vocals), Chrissy Crowley (fiddle) and Adam Young (piano), the four players of Còig grew up and played together in Cape Breton and it wasn’t until years later they decided to form a band together. The result is a magic and creative combination of musical influences and harmonious sounds.

Crowds at UK venues will be treated to songs from the band’s latest release Ashlar, meaning “a perfect fit”, which was recorded in Dave Gunning’s Wee House of Music studio in Nova Scotia during a brief break in touring.

Crowley said: “We love playing to UK audiences. Our spring tour last year was just amazing and we are so excited to get back and visit again this February. We can promise audiences an eclectic mix of lively and original sets, to more traditional ballads and energetic covers. We think there’s definitely something for everyone. We’re looking forward to welcoming fans old and new to shows across Scotland this February.”

You can catch the quartet at the following Scottish venues: February 18, Perth Theatre, Perth; February 19 Oran Mor, Glasgow, February 20, Glassel Hall, Banchory; February 21, Eden Court, Inverness, February 22, Eastgate Arts Centre, Peebles
