THE Scottish Women’s Convention (SWC) is to hold a special conference on independence next month.

Organisers say attendees will be debating whether or not they they want to have another referendum.

The non-partisan SWC was set up by the Scottish Executive in 2003 to “ensure women’s voices reached policy makers”. All information gathered at their events is reported to “key decision makers at both a local and national level”.

The indyef2 conference will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in Glasgow.

Agnes Tolmie, SWC Chair, said: “Decisions made over Scotland’s future often do not take into account women’s lived experiences, voices and opinions.

“That is why we need to discuss if holding a referendum will be a positive or negative experience for communities.

“Women need the correct information to come to a fully informed decision that empowers them. At present, many say this is not available.”
