IT’S a busy month for Yes groups, with a range of Burns suppers happening all over the country.

There’s a range of events celebrating Robert Burns in the week of his birth on January 25. The bard’s poems and songs have been translated into every major language and some 9.5 million people worldwide are thought to attend Burns suppers annually.

Craigentinny/Duddingston SNP are holding a Burns Night Extravaganza on January 21 at The Bellfield Brewery in Edinburgh, starting at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £10 and are available from Eventbrite.

Three events are being held on Friday, January 24, including Falkirk for Independence’s Burns-related social gathering at Falkirk Golf Club, which starts at 7.30pm. It will include a quiz, silent auction raffle and music. Tea, coffee and cake will be supplied. Also on January 24 at 6.30pm will be the Govan Kingston SNP Burns Supper at GoGlasgow Urban Hotel, where Nicola Sturgeon will be the special guest. Tickets are priced from £35, including a three-course meal, and are available from govankingstonsnp.com. Anniesland SNP Burns Supper will also feature special guests SNP deputy leader Keith Brown and MSP Christina McKelvie – it begins at 7.30pm at Scotstounhill Bowling Club.

Dundee SNP’s Burns Supper will be held in the Invercarse Hotel on February 1, with entertainment from Ayrshire poet Stuart Paterson, Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf MSP, Anne McLaughlin MP, councillor Graham Campbell and SNP MP Stewart Hosie.
