THE First Minister has given a message of support to pro-independence marchers ahead of today's All Under One Banner (AUOB) event through Glasgow.

AUOB's "emergency" march is set to leave Kelvingrove at Park at 11.30am, and will make its way to Glasgow Green. A rally had been planned to talk place at the green, but this has been cancelled due to poor weather.

The march, which Glasgow City Council estimates about 100,000 people will take part in, is expected to finish at the green at about 3.30pm.

Nicola Sturgeon - who spoke at The National's rally for independence in George Square last November - posted her message of support to Twitter this morning.

She wrote: "Good luck to everyone marching for independence in Glasgow today - hope the weather isn’t too bad!

"Sorry I can’t be there today, but look forward to seeing you all again soon. In the meantime, sending my support and best wishes."

The "emergency" march was announced after the election, in which Boris Johnson's Tories won an 80-seat majority - but 48 of Scotland's 59 seats went to pro-independence MPs.

This is the first in a series of marches being organised by AUOB with one more march scheduled for Glasgow in May, as well as a host of marches in Arbroath, Peebles, Elgin, Kirkcaldy, Stirling and Edinburgh

The National is distributing leaflets with a fantastic subscription offer to marchers. Look out for our team at the starting point!
