MHAIRI Black has been named as the SNP's new shadow secretary of state for Scotland.

The Paisley MP and National columnist will face off against Tory minister Alister Jack at the first Scottish Questions of the year tomorrow. 

Other key changes to the top team include Kirsty Blackman taking on a "key strategic role leading on the constitution" in preparation for indyref2

Former MEP Alyn Smith has been named foreign affairs spokesperson post, taking over the role from Stephen Gethins who lost his North East Fife seat to the LibDems at last month's election.

The National:

John Nicolson is to be the spokesperson for culture, Anne McLaughlin will be spokesperson for women and equalities and Kenny MacAskill will be a justice team member.

Glasgow East MP David Linden is joining the team as spokesperson for housing, communities and local government, while Alison Thewliss will be the new Treasury spokeswoman.
