NORTH Ayrshire Foodbank has reaped some of the benefits of wind power after it received 250 Christmas hampers from Community Windpower Ltd.

The operator of three wind farms in the area said the hampers would help local charities and organisations, including Barnardos, Cornerstone and the Family Nurse Partnership, to provide traditional Christmas fare to under privileged families.

It is the sixth year running the renewable energy company has supported the food bank.

Craig Crosthwaite, North Ayrshire Foodbank’s coordinator, based in Ardrossan’s Church of Nazarene said: “Without this help it would have cost us close to £15,000 to put together these hampers, and we know all our charitable partners are grateful for everything.

“All donations make a huge difference to young people and North Ayrshire’s most vulnerable families who face hunger, and it’s particularly poignant as we approach Christmas.”
