A SCOTTISH tech platform that delivers beers, wines and spirits is looking to raise £250,000 in a bid to become the UK’s number one on-demand drinks provider.

Drinkly is backed by BrewDog’s James Watt and Skyscanner CCO Stuart Middleton, and has recently recruited Shabaz Ali as business development manager in preparation for the firm’s fast-track expansion.

The award-winning service has now launched Your Round, a £250,000 equity crowdfunding campaign on investment platform Seedrs. It allows people to invest from £10 upwards in exchange for equity in Drinkly, which plans to move into 150 locations by December 2020.

The firm, which purchases directly from retailers, delivers chilled drinks within one hour after they are ordered.

Since launching in 2016, the service has delivered more than 14,000 orders to customers in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, adding £110,000 in revenue this year alone to its first retail partner.

Drinkly has also agreed exclusive partnerships with global drinks brands including Heineken, Asahi and Innis & Gunn.

Newly recruited business development manager Ali has helped sign up nearly 40 independent retailers to strengthen Drinkly’s presence in the UK within the past two months.

John Robertson, founder and CEO of Drinkly, said: “The UK drinks market is huge; it’s forecast to be worth £55.5 billion by 2022 with the e-commerce segment forecast to be worth £19.6bn, growing 16% year-on-year.

“We have a trusted, tried and tested platform, the team and the tech leaving us well positioned to capitalise on this opportunity and scale up quickly.

“We plan to take Drinkly to 150 locations by December 2020, becoming the market leader in drinks-on-demand delivery in the UK.”

Watt added: “I backed Drinkly because it is doing things differently, using technology to innovate and putting the customer at the forefront of everything it does. Anything that brings the customer closer to fresher BrewDog the better.”
