HE’s the real star of any election, the polling guru with all the stats you need to know.

Now you can own your own portrait of Professor John Curtice thanks to Scots cartoonist Neil Slorance.

Slorance, who pens a weekly strip for The National, is known for his illustrations of political figures, with LibDem leader Willie Rennie and equalities minister Christina McKelvie among those using his caricatures as their Twitter icons.

Yesterday he released a limited edition run of Curtice prints on his online shop in a move he says was a response to public demand.

The decision comes after the University of Strathclyde expert graced TV and newspapers once again with his political insights in the weeks ahead of December 12.

The love heart design was created that night, when Slorance live drew the action as part of the BBC’s Election Cafe.

The A4 prints could be the perfect present for political anoraks this Christmas.

But fans need to be quick – because only around 50 will be made.

Slorance says he’s already sold “a bunch” of the pieces through his store on etsy.com, but has stopped short of requests for other merchandise.

He told the Sunday National: “I’ve had people wanting t-shirts, stickers and all sorts. I didn’t know there was such a John Curtice fanbase.

“He’s just such a recognisable face and he’s such a warm character as well.

“I am a big fan – I just didn’t know so many other people are.”

Slorance told his social media followers about the illustrations yesterday morning, after which one wrote: “Need this on my wall.”

It’s not known what Curtice, a senior research fellow at the National Centre for Social Research, makes of the portrait.

However, the author is no stranger to tributes, having been recognised with a knighthood for services to the social sciences and politics in the 2018 New Year Honours.
