Do you remember back in 2014 when Scottish twitter warned everyone about the inevitable Nigel Farage/Boris Johnson partnership? The Jouker does...
Like a kilted Nostradamus, we told the UK that this day could come - and now it has arrived.
Only a Conservative majority can get Brexit done by the end of January with a deal that's agreed and ready to go. pic.twitter.com/u5BUvfG3Wk

Farage will be leaping aside to set up Conservative candidates across the UK in a move that some consider to have just handed the election to the Tories...none of which is a surprise to canny independence supporters who saw this coming FIVE YEARS AGO, back when David Cameron was PM and Farage was just the host of Question Time.
And to think, we could have avoided this...
Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage etc are en route to having a lot of influence over Scotland. Luckily we can #voteyes + avoid = no-brainer

The next Leaders of UK will be Farage and Boris Johnson. I hope every No Voter in Scotland with kids really thinks hard about this...

If Scotland does not vote #Yes and liberate themselves from Westminster then they deserve a Johnson/farage coalition

Can u imagine a Boris Johnson & Nigel Farage tag team running this 'better together' country in the event of a No vote?
— Stef Mç 🍀 (@BigStef1981) August 17, 2014
Fuck that! Vote Yes
Last question before summing up- would we want Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson instead of indy Scotland? #indyref #Inverness #Invernessdebate
— Peter Nimmo (@PeterNimmo1) June 26, 2014

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
