LIBERAL Democrat leader Jo Swinson has attempted to defend deeply misleading campaign material while appearing on Sky News this morning.
The post in question, which was made by a Twitter account run by the Bath and north east Somerset LibDems, depicts the LibDems position in north-east Somerset showing a promising level of support for the party.
While the graph shows the LibDems dominating Labour by a large margin what they failed to make clear until the fine-print was the source of the data.
The tiny text at the bottom reads: "Survation polled 405 respondents aged 18+ living in NE Somerset with the question: 'Imagine that the result in your constituency was expected to be very close between the Conservative and Liberal Democrat candidate, and none of the other parties were competitive. In this scenario, which party would you vote for?'"

Speaking to Sophie Ridge on Ridge on Sunday, the blundering leader stated "politics has changed significantly since the 2017 election", justifying the graph by pointing to increased support for the Liberal Democrats elsewhere.
Ridge rebutted Swinson by asking how she could criticise Brexit campaign promises, such as the debunked "£350 million on the side of a bus" claim, while her own party were distributing material like this.
Swinson stated that it was "entirely different".
