Darts: European Championship Live (ITV4, 6pm)
JACQUI Oatley presents coverage of day three of the event from the Lokhalle in Goettingen, Germany, featuring the concluding four second-round matches. This stage of last year’s tournament saw a huge upset, as top seed Michael van Gerwen was beaten 10-7 by Steve West (above), while Peter Wright was another high-profile casualty. Rob Cross demolished Richard North 10-2 to reach the quarter-finals. With commentary by Stuart Pyke and John Rawling, and analysis by Alan Warriner-Little and Chris Mason.
Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 6.35pm)
IT’S the sixth live episode of this year’s series, and the pressure is starting to mount. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcome the 11 remaining couples as they take to the floor with the obligatory Halloween-inspired routines. It remains to be seen whether anything sends chills down the spine as effectively as Anneka Rice’s Kill Bill routine from a few weeks ago, even if she did look like a million quid in that outfit.
Great Australian Railway Journeys (BBC2, 8pm)
NEW series. Michael Portillo ventures Down Under to explore Australia by train. He begins by riding the legendary Ghan Railway, a train almost a kilometre in length and hauled by two locomotives, which covers nearly 2000 miles across Australia’s red centre. Michael traces its route from the southern harbour of Port Augusta to Darwin on the north coast, along the way meeting the indigenous people of Alice Springs, visiting a kangaroo sanctuary and joining Australians to mark the anniversary of Anzac Day, the First Word War battle that defined their nation.
Westwood: Punk: Icon: Activist (BBC2, 9pm)
IF you didn’t see Lorna Tucker’s documentary when it was released in the spring of 2018, then now’s your chance. With a cast of contributors, including Kate Moss, Pamela Anderson and Christina Hendricks, the film looks at the life and work of style legend Vivienne Westwood.
“I was really a woman on a mission,” remarks the star of the show, as she discusses her attempts to save the planet, and also confesses that she thought her company expanded too much for her. An inspiring look at one of Blighty’s greatest artists.
Pose (BBC2, 10.20pm)
THE acclaimed US drama about New York’s ballroom scene returns for a new series, beginning with a double bill. Blanca senses that vogueing is on the verge of breaking into the mainstream (thanks in part to a certain single by Madonna), and encourages her House of Evangelista children to follow their dreams. Angel pursues her ambition of becoming a fashion model.
