Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 6.40pm)
AS hard as some of us try, the sight of Anneka Rice’s Kill Bill routine or the gag about Anton du Beke’s Austin Powers teeth are hard to forget. Thankfully Strictly manages to come up with the goods every week as dancers push themselves to their limits, and Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly try to keep order as the overexcited participants act like kids after too many sweets during the score-giving. This week the dozen remaining celebrity couples take to the dancefloor, while Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro give their verdicts.
The X Factor: Celebrity (STV, 8.30pm)
THERE was little wonder that after 15 years, The X Factor had grown more stale than week-old bread. So Simon Cowell and ITV decided to challenge Strictly with a mix of special Britain’s Got Talent and TXF editions. Here, stars from music, film, sport, television and social media compete to win a life-changing recording contract. Dermot O’Leary, will be on hand to provide support and oversee proceedings. Journalist Martin Bashir, talk show host Ricki Lake, quiz show champion Jenny Ryan (The Chase) and actress Victoria Ekanoye (Angie Appleton in Coronation Street) are among those taking part. Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh will be passing judgment, while viewers at home try to figure out who most of the so-called celebrities are during the ad break.
Casualty (BBC1, 9.20pm)
HOSPITAL drama with the staff of Holby’s accident and emergency department as they deal with more sick and injured patients. Archie is shocked when Vincent, the retired school master who was acid attacked by one of his abused ex-pupils, returns to the emergency department. Elsewhere Rashid and Mason finally put their differences aside and make peace when they discover that Leena has Meniere’s disease, and Ethan finds himself under pressure to rig the trial. Starring Genesis Lynea, Neet Mohan and Victor Oshin.
The Jonathan Ross Show (STV, 10pm)
THIS week the eponymous tie-straightening host is joined by one of rock music’s most enduring personalities, James Newell Osterberg Jr. Okay, chances are you know him by the more familiar moniker of Iggy Pop. Fans of Breaking Bad are also in for a treat as Aaron Paul is in London promoting Netflix’s spin-off movie El Camino. Jack Whitehall is also no stranger to that streaming series after three successful series of Travels with My Father, in which he spent most of the time winding up his dad Michael. The Fresh Meat star will be discussing his life and career and no doubt lending a hand with the laughs.
