The Gadget Show (C5, 7pm)

WHAT was life like before games consoles? That’s what Ortis Deley attempts to discover in this edition of the high-tech strand. Meanwhile, Georgie Barrat heads for Germany, and gets her hands on all the latest gadgets at the IFA, Europe’s biggest tech show. Series regular Jon Bentley will be road testing the latest dash-cams with the help of stunt driver Paul Swift, and the team also attempts to make the hostelry more tech savvy. And presenter Craig Charles and consumer journalist Harry Wallop deliver more money-saving advice.

Inside the Cockpit: The Concorde Crash (C5, 9.15pm)

IN the summer of 2000, an Air France Concorde took off from Charles de Gaulle Airport and was headed for John F Kennedy International Airport, New York. However, it crashed shortly after take-off, killing all 109 passengers and crew members on board, as well as at least four people on the ground. Almost 20 years on, this film re-examines the causes of the incident, as revealed by British and French air crash investigators. Just what was it that led to the deaths of so many?

The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (Channel 4, 8pm)

THE nation’s insatiable desire for soggy bottoms and other innuendo-laden baking terms shows little sign of abating. And as the contest continues to hot up, Jo Brand will be scrutinising key crumbs of info from the latest stage. Funnyman Phil Wang and roving reporter Stacey Dooley add their thoughts on current tent events. Naturally the latest baker to leave the contest will also be discussing their time on TGBBO, and Tom Allen inspects some of the studio audience’s culinary creations.

The Great Model Railway Challenge (C5, 8pm)

THREE more teams of the UK’s most talented railway modellers compete for a place in the semi-finals. A combo dubbed Who’s Counting Rivets hopes to impress the judges with a layout featuring gadgets galore, pyrotechnics and a multitude of mini-animations. Retired traditionalists the Three Millers plan to re-enact a dramatic railway scene from 1950s Holland, while the Titfield Thunderbolts attempt to stage an action adventure in the jungle involving a plane crash and a volcano.
