LEGENDARY Scottish singer Annie Lennox had a star-studded crowd at a sold-out event raising money for a charity she set up.

An Evening of Music and Conversation saw Lennox interviewed by BBC Scotland’s Janice Forsyth, accompanied by performances of some of her most famous hits.

All proceeds of Thursday’s event went to The Circle, which Lennox set up to help “create transformative change in the lives of girls and women facing the challenges of gender inequality across the globe”.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was among those at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow to take in the night.

Also there was Judy Murray, who tweeted afterwards: “I thought I was pretty energetic for a 60 something but Annie Lennox knocked me out the park tonight.”

The evening, supported by The Hunter Foundation, included a pre-show reception with guests including Young Fathers, Amy Macdonald, Stephanie Cheape and Luke La Volpe.

Lennox’s setlist included Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), Here Comes The Rain Again, Walking on Broken Glass, and Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves.

The Circle, which she founded in 2008, uses the income raised by its members, which stands at just over £2.5 million, and advocacy work to tackle inequalities faced by women and girls across the globe.

The Scottish star also has an exhibition running, with Annie Lennox: Now I Let you Go at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art until February 2020.
