AN event tomorrow aims to help the Yes movement and pro-independence parties work closer together.

Supported by the Scottish Independence Foundation, Yes Edinburgh and Lothians is holding a Big Grassroots Conversation day at the Nelson Hall in Edinburgh from 9am-5pm.

Organiser Lindsay Mccrea said: “The urgency for closer cooperation and coordination has never been more necessary than it is now. The Yes movement is out every weekend across the Lothians, talking and listening to people on all spectrums in the debate. All are appalled by Westminster’s shambolic effort to extricate the UK from Europe, and many are looking for alternative ways to solve what they would like to happen now, and exploring Scottish independence as a solution is increasingly being discussed and considered.”

The event will be opened by former SNP MP Michelle Thomson as the morning keynote speaker and the afternoon conversations will begin with SNP deputy leader Keith Brown MSP.

Other speakers include Green councillor Susan Rae, Scottish Socialist Party leader Colin Fox, SNP councillor Chris McEleny and playwright Andy Paterson.

Mike Blackshaw of the Edinburgh Yes Hub said: “Everybody should support this Yes Edinburgh and Lothians initiative”.
