A NEW concept in rental accommodation is being launched aimed at business or tourist travellers on long and short stays.

Apartrooms, at Marywell in Aberdeen, is a 10-unit building constructed off-site as prefabricated modules with rigorous standards of energy-efficiency, which keeps them at an almost constant temperature.

They have a super-insulated structure, with floor to ceiling triple glazing for solar gain, mechanical ventilation heat recovery for continuous fresh filtered air and solar PV panels on the roof to provide clean renewable energy.

Modelled on American motels, they also feature an abundance of smart technology, with lights, heating, television and even kettle all controlled by voice.

Stuart Duncan, owner and designer of Apartrooms said: “Since completing our first sustainable living house in 2015, I have been busy working on this project to launch the first Apartrooms in Scotland.”
