INDEPENDENCE supporters will be familiar with the Yes stones phenomenon and now have the opportunity to gain and share tips at an exclusive event.

The “Boulders and Blethers Saturday by the Yes Stones group, which says the little pieces of art “carry messages to further make the case for independence”.

Yes Stones member Lynne Dougan said: “If you are looking for hints or tips or just want to meet up with fellow Yes stoners, then this is the event for you. There will be short workshops and the opportunity to share tips, ideas and information on the techniques used in creating these little (or sometimes big) pieces of art which are helping to promote independence for Scotland by sparking conversations when hidden stones are found.”

The movement was started by Alison Brown in 2018. The Facebook group now has 5100 members and some stones have made it as far as the US, China, Indonesia and Australia.

The stones, slates, shells and even gnomes come in all shapes and sizes and range in decoration from Saltires and Yes, to recognised Scottish images such as Highland cows, thistles, Scotty dogs, bagpipes, white roses, The Broons, to creative twists on famous artworks such as Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with an Indy Pearl Earring” and Katsushika Hokusai’s famous Tsunami.

The event will be held at Kinning Park Complex in Glasgow from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Tickets cost £8 and all materials will be provided.
