The National:

THE Supreme Court's website has seen record-breaking viewing figures for the case considering Boris Johnson's prorogation.

And this morning, whether it was television, livestreams or Twitter timelines, many of us tuned in for the historic ruling from the 11 justices.

In the event, they unanimously ruled against the Prime Minister – a historic moment.

We'd have given anything to see Johnson's face as that judgment was handing down, but this wasn't to be.

The Scottish Government, at least, gave us a look behind the scenes on a momentous morning.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted an image of her team in Bute House watching the ruling come in.

She tweeted: "Historic times. @scotgov Cabinet gathered in Bute House (under the watchful eye of Tom Johnston) to watch Lady Hale deliver ⁦@UKSupremeCourt judgment".

A portrait of Johnston, a Scottish socialist journalist and Labour Scotland Secretary under Winston Churchill, hangs on the wall.

Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf offered a slightly more artsy version, adding a black-and-white filter and tweeting: "Cabinet gathered round telly at Bute House after our regular Cabinet meeting to watch the historic decision from Supreme. Elation in the room as the Supreme Court holds up the decision of the Scottish Courts. Prorogation is unlawful! Well done @joannaccherry @JolyonMaugham"
