JOANNA Cherry has been announced as a speaker for next weekend's All Under One Banner march and rally in Scotland's capital.

The SNP MP and QC will be appearing fresh from what the organisers have called "landmark rulings" over Boris Johnson's suspension of Parliament.

Cherry led the cross-party legal action against the Prime Minister's move through the Scottish Court of Session earlier this month which found the Government acted unlawfully in proroguing Parliament.

Today's Supreme Court ruling was based on two appeals. The first was Cherry's, the other an appeal from Gina Miller against a decision in the High Court of England and Wales that said the decision wasn’t a matter for the courts.

Cherry wrote exclusively for The National after the Supreme Court announcement, calling the ruling a "defining moment in the failure of the British state".

Last year’s hugely successful AUOB march and rally in Edinburgh saw 100,000 people march down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Park.

This year the march will start in Holyrood Park close to the Scottish Parliament and will proceed through the city centre before turning south at George IV Bridge to the Meadows where the rally element of the event will take place.
