NICOLA Sturgeon met young people from the Scottish Guardianship Service as part of her commitment to listen to 1000 people with experience of care in Scotland.

The Scottish Guardianship Service works with children and young people under 18 who have been separated from their families and arrive in Scotland alone. It is run by Scottish Refugee Council and Aberlour.

Each month as many as five unaccompanied children arrive in Scotland who, in many cases, may have been trafficked. The meeting took place at the Scottish Refugee Council’s base in Glasgow, ahead of a two-day gathering of the European Guardianship Network.
